World of Outlaws Set to Invade New York for Trio of July Dates

CONCORD, NC – July 16, 2018 - The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series continues its 40th Anniversary Season and Month of Money with an exciting slate of three races in five days through New York. The Series will make its inaugural visit to Airborne Park Speedway on Wednesday, July 25 before heading to Ransomville Speedway on Friday, July 27 and concluding the weekend at the Empire State Challenge at Weedsport Speedway on Sunday, July 29.

Sprint car driver Jason Johnson dies of injuries sustained in crash

Jason Johnson, a World of Outlaws sprint car driver, has died of injuries he sustained in a crash Saturday night at Wisconsin’s Beaver Dam Raceway. He was 41.

Johnson crashed on the 18th lap of a 40-lap race as he was battling Daryn Pittman for the lead after a restart on the 1/3-mile long dirt oval, according to World of Outlaws. Johnson’s car climbed the wall in the third turn, flipped and crashed through a billboard, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He was taken to a hospital, then airlifted to Aurora Medical Center, where he died. Johnson, who is from Eunice, La., is survived by his wife, Bobbi, and 5-year-old son, Jaxx.

Remembering Jason Johnson: #Forever41

Some things in life we hope to never face. The Sprint Car racing community is enduring one of those things with the passing of World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series driver Jason Johnson.

Currently fifth in Series championship points, Johnson’s accolades on the track were plentiful: 12 World of Outlaws wins, five American Sprint Car Series championships, over 250 career Sprint Car victories and, of course, the 2016 Knoxville Nationals championship.

Checkered flags aside, Johnson took immense pride in his off-track accomplishments. The growth and well-being of his five-year old son, Jaxx. The relationship with the love of his life, Bobbi. The connections he made with each and every fan, every weekend, doing what he loved — racing. Jason loved racing.

World of Outlaws at Jacksonville Speedway Moved to Friday, October 12

CONCORD, NC – June 24, 2018 – On the heels of the tragic accident at Beaver Dam Raceway Saturday evening, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series has moved the event at Jacksonville Speedway scheduled for Wednesday, June 27th to Friday, October 12 out of respect for the Johnson family and to allow drivers, officials and crews to grieve the loss of a fellow friend and competitor.
