Saldana Recovering After Surgery to Arm Injured in Kings Royal Crash

Kasey Kahne Racing driver caught up in multi-car incident early in Eldora Speedway A-main

ROSSBURG, Ohio - July 17, 2011 - World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship contender Joey Saldana had surgery on Sunday in Indianapolis to his right forearm, which was broken in a multi-car crash early in the Kings Royal A-main Saturday night at Eldora Speedway.

Doctors inserted two plates and 25 screws to stabilize his arm. Saldana's ribs were also injured in the incident, which contributed to a partially collapsed lung. He is expected to remain hospitalized until midweek.

Cedar Lake Speedway and Beaver Dam Raceway

CONCORD, N.C. — July 4, 2011 — Craig Dollansky and Jason Sides proved to be the top gunslingers at Dodge City Raceway Park in the Boot Hill Showdown. Dollansky used a late race pass fueled by a strong run off of turn two to snatch the lead away from teammate Sammy Swindell. The Elk River, Minn. native led the final three laps to go on to win night number one. On night two, it was the battle of the “Jason’s” as 2010 Series Champion Jason Meyers and red hot Jason Sides led the entire night with Sides making the winning pass in lap traffic to secure his fourth victory of the season.

The Boot Hill Showdown at Dodge City Raceway Park

CONCORD, N.C. — June 27, 2011 — Donny Schatz moved one step closer to Sprint Car racing immortality Saturday night at Princeton (Minn.) Speedway by winning the 107th World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series A-main of his career. Schatz, of Fargo, N.D., battled with local favorite Mark Dobmeier through the mid-point of the race, finally wrestling the lead away on Lap 28 of the 40-lapper. Schatz then held off red hot Jason Sides on the final restart to claim his second victory of the season and third in a row at the quarter-mile bullring.

Mother Nature Gets the Best of World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Again

Event at Husets Speedway in S.D. falls postponed as storms pelt upper Midwest 

BRANDON, S.D. — June 26, 2011 — Mother nature continues to be a thorn in the side of many race teams and tracks in 2011. Adverse weather conditions have plagued the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series multiple times and the event at Huset’s Speedway near Brandon, S.D., is the latest to fall victim to wet weather. The “Greatest Show on Dirt,” was scheduled to take to the high banked, three eighths mile on Sunday, June 26, until rain forced a postponement.

CONCORD, N.C. — June 20, 2011 — Craig Dollansky proved to be the master of River Cities Speedway as he swept the annual World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series “Duel in the Dakotas” for his third and fourth wins of the 2011 campaign, giving the Minnesota native momentum heading into Saturday’s race at Princeton (Minn.) Rain Cuts Mediacom Shootout to One-Day Event at Knoxville

Saldana leads 'The Greatest Show on Dirt' into Sprint Car racing’s showcase venue on Saturday

KNOXVILLE, Iowa - June 10, 2011 - Constant rain has forced World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and Knoxville Raceway officials to cancel Friday night's opening round of the Mediacom Shootout.

The Mediacom Shootout will resume on Saturday, with hot laps taking the green flag at 6:45 p.m.

Mediacom Shootout at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway

CONCORD, N.C. — June 6, 2011 — After record-breaking events last weekend in Kansas to kick off June, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series sets its sights on legendary Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway for the Mediacom Shootout on Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11. It’s the first visit of the 2011 season for The Greatest Show on Dirt to the legendary half-mile oval. For many drivers and teams, this is their only opportunity to test in preparation for the 51st Goodyear Knoxville Nationals in August.

Belleville (Kan.) High Banks and Lakeside (Kansas City, Kan.) Speedway

CONCORD, N.C. — May 29, 2011 — The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is kicking off the month of June with a trip to Kansas and two of the most exciting dates on the summer schedule. On Friday, June 3, the Outlaws will make a long-anticipated return to the Belleville High Banks, a speedway the series hasn’t visited since 1981. The following night, Saturday, June 4, the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt,’ will invade Lakeside Speedway for the 10th time in series history. Last year, 20-time champion Steve Kinser won an exciting shootout at Lakeside and looks to use experience there to wrestle the points lead away from Joey Saldana. Kinser had given up a large lead early on but has regained traction on the season and is now within nine points of Saldana’s #9 Red Bull Maxim following the action on Saturday night at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
